The paper briefly describes a genesis and a conception of Industry 4.0. The most im-portant technologies, which drive the development of the fourth industrial revolution were presented and characterised: Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, automation, Big Data and cloud computing. These technologies are a consequence of galloping digitisation. The possibilities of practical applications of them in various logistics areas: production, ware-housing, transport or supplu chain management were featured. Salient advantages of im-plementation of mentioned technologies in logistics enterprises, susceptible of developing competitive advantage were indicated.
