ABSTRACT
In the following article, the author will focus on these aspects of sustainable design, that refer to office work environment. The first issue is building location. It is recommended to choose plots situated in city centers or business districts, that are already urbanized, with all technical infrastructure needed. Such location saves natural landscape, as well as lowers costs and energy expenditure if investments. Users of the building on the other hand, find it easier to commute to work and ensures access to necessary services near their workplace. Afterwards, the issue of functional office building layout, some technical, environmental-friendly solution were presented. There were specified some modern energy-saving solutions and ways of acquiring energy out of renewable sources. Functional plans providing sun-lighting in office spaces and sun-protection systems, as well as HVAC and lighting zoning will be disputed among them. Author of these elaboration set a thesis of a dependence on environmental friendly solutions and comfort of use. To prove these assumption, there will be presented some office buildings, that are designed with care of both ecology and potential occupants. Most of them are situated in Poland - Cracow and Warsaw. To compare, some German examples will be brought. It aimed to demonstrate that the certified eco-friendly office buildings are also more ergonomic and friendly than traditional offices.
