In business areas connected with human activity, ergonomic standards play an important role. Currently, standards are not just an “extra element” in the organization and designing process. They are an important element, which influences the effectiveness of initiated activi-ties. The better part of ergonomic requirements is composed of technical standards, aiding the planning of all areas of human existence, e.g. work environment. Ergonomic standards can be used as criteria for the design and selection of solutions as well as arrangement of ergonomic requirements. The aim of this article is to present selected issues concerning development of ergonomic requirements, functioning as normative records. Also characterized are requirements for the formation of human surroundings and working environment, and organizing the space of human functioning (at work). The need to address humanistic aspects in the construction of work equipment used in the work environment and the design of machinery and technical devices is also highlighted equipment and projecting of machines and technical devices.
