ABSTRACT
The article is devoted to financial efficiency of the Polish social security system. The system was implemented in 1999, but it is noticed, that since that time it has been deteriorating. The systemic and parametric changes haven't improved the efficiency of the scheme. This study is an attempt to identify possibilities to improve the current situation. In the first part of the paper, the financial efficiency of the Polish social security system was presented. The needed changes that would lead to system self-financing were proposed.
